In the past year, the Reporting Center has registered numerous events regarding articles, reports, and news columns that included offensive content towards the LGBTQ community. Among the various platforms were news sites, television broadcasts, and other media arenas, which frequently regard LGBTQ issues. These media platforms aim to provoke fear, reluctance, and hatred toward the LGBTQ community. Two prominent news websites that were dominant in disseminating offensive content concerning the LGBT community are Channel 14 and Channel 7. In addition to the established and popular platforms, LGBTQ discourse in the media was exhibited in various religious pamphlets, printed, and distributed to the religious public in synagogues. These leaflets often contain LGBTQ-phobic content even more extreme than digital platforms. The abusive rhetorical means used by the media against the LGBTQ community are varied: from alleging the dangers of LGBTQ organizations and ridiculing LGBTQ identities to denouncing and condemning lifestyles or the very existence of LGBTQ individuals. For example, in Channel 14’s special edition, under the ominous headline “LGBTQ-stan,” the writers conveyed a “dangerous takeover” by the LGBTQ community, “Eradicate any norm bREPZdX uf EdEqNY~ŧƄ EdP ƃ1f rENqZNR Ebb fvq NYZbPqRd Wfq uYRZq nvqnfrRŬƄ 1YZr rnRNZEb edition is part of a broader scheme to denounce the community and deny its members dignity and equality. Another example concerns the ridicule of LGBTQ identities and the complex experiences of many in the community.
