• Dr. Ofir Gilad , Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, will be traveling for a one-year advanced study program in GI genetic malignancies in Chicago, IL. • Dr. Miriam Safray , Sheba Medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year advanced study program in preserving fertility in young males prior to oncology treatment in Pennsylvania. • Dr. Hila Goldberg Kramer , Sheba Medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year advanced study program in oculoplastic oncology in Texas. • Dr. Anton Warshavsky , Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, will be traveling for a one-year advanced study program in Head and neck surgical oncology in Boston, MA. • Dr. Sarah Elitzur , Schneider Children’s Hospital, will be traveling for a one-year advanced study program in targeted therapy for Refractory AML, immunotherapy, and treating teens and young adults with leukemia, predisposition for hematological malignancies in Philadelphia. • Dr. Uri Amit , Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year advanced study program in proton therapy in Pennsylvania. • Dr. Nitzan Zohar , Sheba Medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year advanced study program in “hypercapnia promoting aggressive characteristics of pancreatic cancer” in Pennsylvania. • Dr. Guy Meirovich , Division of General Surgery, Department of HPB surgery and transplants, Tel Aviv Sourasky medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year advanced study program in New York for sub-specialization in transplant of abdominal organs and Biliary tracts surgery. • Dr. Efrat Lutvak , Hematology Unit, Tel Aviv Sourasky medical Center, will be traveling for a two-year clinical advanced study program in lymphoma combined with research on follicular lymphoma.
Berlin The Friends of the ICA in Berlin, led by Mr. Michael Zehden , continue their tireless fundraising efforts in support of the Spark of Hope® Project, a unique initiative that trains students and tutors to help child cancer patients, who miss school due to treatments, makeup their schoolwork. Thanks to this project, the tutors help the children stay up-to-date with their studies and at their classmates’ level despite the challenge of being sick (For more information about the Hope for Life® project, see the Rehabilitation & Welfare chapter). Munich For more than a decade, the Friends of the ICA in Munich, led by the dedicated Ms. Anita Kaminski , have been charting impressive achievements in changing the lives of people diagnosed with cancer. Frankfurt The Friends of the ICA in Frankfurt, under the dedicated leadership of Ms. Orna Knoch , continue to show their support of the ICA by organizing events for the benefit of cancer patients in Israel. The Friends of the ICA in Frankfurt continue to raise donations for the Hope for Life® project, which helps hundreds of children joining it each year. United Kingdom The London Friends of ICA, headed by the enthusiastic Mrs. Vered Aaron , continue to show their unyielding support by coordinating events aimed at assisting cancer patients in Israel. FICA UK in conjunction with Mr. Jonathan Corman , is funding a research on “the role of cardiac extracellular vesicles in tumor growth”
