A Word from the Mayor
Dear residents, The “Swords of Iron” war has been going on for nine months now, and none of us know what the future may hold.
We are constantly assessing the situation, and while we hope for more peaceful days – we also prepare for the possibility that the fighting in the north shall expand in the near future. As we have done during the COVID-19 crisis and during Operation “Guardian of the Walls”, so too shall we act in this current war – we will not wait for the government, or for anyone else, but act independently to ensure that Bat-Yam is prepared to the greatest extent, and for any scenario – just to be on the safe side. We have recently completed penning regulations and orders, procured appropriate equipment, and conducted drills to ensure the city is prepared to face the challenges yet to come, even should the center of Israel come under heavy fire. The enclosed booklet contains all urgent information that you should know during an emergency. Please take a few moments to read it, so you can be prepared. You can find more information in the Municipality website, and in the Home Front Command’s emergency portal. Additionally, Municipal Hotline 107 is at your service, around the clock, for anyquestions or requests. We know these are difficult times, but there is no need to panic. We will make it through this safely, together, by properly preparing, and with plenty
of professionalism, patience – and solidarity. And may we only have good news, always.

What to do now, just in case? In an emergency, you may not have the time you need to make preparations that would make the situation easier. Therefore, it’s important to do some things in advance: > Clear out any equipment that is not needed for an emergency stay from your Protected Space. > Inspect the door, escape routes and lighting for integrity > Clear out any furniture and equipment that may interfere with access to the shelter > Put up a sign saying “Shelter" at the entrance to the shelter Additionally, you should prepare for prolonged power outages, and prepare equipment in the Protected Space accordingly:
