The state leads in autonomous vehicle testing infrastructure with over 500 miles of connected roadway. Boasting the highest concentration of mechanical and industrial engineers, Michigan offers quadruple the national average of talent necessary for success. Michigan maintains its innovative edge through its collaborations with various partners. Key players in mobility and innovation include the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA) and the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME). The MIBA is the state of Michigan’s lead for advancing innovation through partnerships with Israeli mobility and technology enterprises. With teams in both Michigan and Israel, the MIBA provides a range of services that create opportunities for B2B interactions. These services encompass trade missions between Michigan and Israel, as well as complimentary access to The Elevator, the only landing zone in the US dedicated to aiding Israeli businesses in scaling their operations. OFME spearheads the state’s leadership in mobility by leveraging public, private, and non-profit partnerships to foster emerging technologies and businesses. Coordinating across four state agencies, OFME strengthens the economy and promotes safe, equitable, eco-friendly transportation. Key initiatives include accelerating EV adoption, expanding smart infrastructure, and enhancing mobility manufacturing. OFME supports companies with grant funding, networking, policy support, and industry insights. The Council on Future Mobility and Electrification oversees workgroups on electrification, automated vehicles, regulations, and economic development, cementing Michigan’s global leadership in mobility innovation.
