Israel Cancer Association - Annual Report 2023
‘Give Kids the World’ Project Honoring the Memory of the Late Miri Sheetrit As part of this project, families who have a child with advanced-stage cancer are taken for a week to the Give Kids the World village in Orlando FL. This year, after three years of COVID-19, during which the project was suspended, one family went on a visit to Orlando.

The village itself was amazing, both strategically and emotionally. The staff did everything they could to put a smile on Roy's face and ours, they even prepared kosher dishes and food for us in advance. The activity at the village was fun, relaxing, carefully planned, heartwarming and happy. It seems like every theme was planned to the nines in the best way possible. The visits to the various attractions were fun and made Roy and the rest the family happy with unforgettable memories. The trip was a bonding family experience, filled with many moments of joy and leisure, and gave us a meaningful respite in order to gather renewed strength and get refreshed during these challenging days. A special thank you to SW Dalia Stern , our contact person who was available to us on any matter from the get go, and took care of our airline tickets, to regional SW Miri Mor Yosef for handling the treatment at Soroka and to Amos and Yuval Shlepman , who helped communicate with the village and get us organized. Without everyone's help, this trip would not have been possible. Our heartfelt thank you Shira and Amos Cohen, Roy and his siblings
Thank You letter A few months ago, our son Roy (15) was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and ever since then, most of the focus has been on caring for him. From the get go, we knew we couldn't cope with such a trajectory on our own, and that the Israel Cancer Association is a partner. From the start, Roy got a present from you – a laptop that serves him greatly, along with a brochure detailing your assistance programs for patients. Among the options was a family trip for families who have a child with a terminal illness, knowing that there is value in reinforcing the togetherness of a family in crisis and making memories. Our request sent to you via SW Tamar Nisky from Soroka Medical Center was accepted, and in March 2023, we left on a family trip to the U.S., courtesy of the ICA. The trip was very successful and included a stay at Give Kids the World village and visits to Disney's amazing theme parks, Universal and Sea World.
