Israel Cancer Association - Annual Report 2024
Health Promotion
The Health Promotion Array is coordinated by Linoy Kushnir Bar Chen , ICA’s Health Promotion Specialist. Lectures on 'Reducing the Risk of Breast Cancer' Lectures on 'Breast Health Awareness: Reducing the Risk of Breast Cancer' are given by breast healthcare nurses. In these lectures, volunteers from Reach to Recovery® (“Yad Lehachlama”) share their personal stories. A booth is set up with ICA outreach material staffed by local volunteers. In collaboration with the Rehabilitation and Welfare and Branches departments, over 100 online lectures were held on prevention and early detection of breast cancer. Lectures were also given on steps to a healthy lifestyle. The lectures garnered very positive feedback. A digital mini site was launched on breast cancer early detection and prevention, and was sent to various organizations and institutions to be presented to their employees. Participation in Conferences and Health Seminars The ICA places information booths for professionals and the general public in dozens of conferences and health days held across the country. Such events include the Israel Senologic Society, oncology patient conference, cancer prevention meetings for the public, conventions and conferences on health and nutrition, various health promotion events in the workplace, in local authorities, etc.
Health promotion lectures were held in many organizations and companies as part of ICA's activities to raise awareness of healthy lifestyle. ICA information instructors gave lectures in educational institutions, organizations, and various companies. The content delivered focused on healthy lifestyle, smoking avoidance, maintaining proper body weight, proper nutrition, 'Sunsmart'® behavior, reducing alcohol consumption, and regular physical activity, recommending that good health may reduce the risk of developing cancer. The organizations and institutions where lectures were delivered include the IDF, the Israel Prison Service, government ministries, educational institutions, municipalities and local councils, mental health associations, and various hi-tech companies. This year, the ICA also began supporting the Psychological Counseling Service (SHEFI) in the Ministry of Elections with a project to implement a learning center for smoking prevention. Linoy Kushnir Bar Chen , ICA's Health Promotion Specialist, and Faten Ghattas , ICA Activity Director in Arab Society, conducted professional training for educational teams to help promote the implementation of the project. The implementation process began in December 2024 and will continue in 2025. Throughout the year, intensive online presentations training days for ICA outreach instructors were held nationwide. The outreach presentations are regularly updated and, when necessary, are also translated into different languages.
