Breast Surgery Symposium In May, the Israel Surgical Association conference took place, focusing on breast cancer screening tests. Dana Frost , Director of the Information and Health Promotion Department, participated in the conference on behalf of ICA and presented ICA's position on general screening tests versus personalized screening tests. The Annual Conference of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (ISPHO) In May, the 34th Annual Conference of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology was held at the Roxon Desert Hotel in Arad. Dr. Joan Yaakobovitz , Director of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department at Schneider Pediatric Medical Center and Chairperson of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, received a grant from the ICA to fund the participation of four international experts in the conference. Dr. Joan Yaakobovitz gave the opening remarks at the conference, and like every year, awards were presented to outstanding residents on behalf of ICA. This year, ICA CEO Moshe Bar-Haim presented awards to two outstanding residents: • Dr. Alex Yalek , from the Schneider Pediatric Hospital. • Dr. Einav Blansh , from Ruth Rappaport Children's Hospital, Rambam Medical Center. World No Tobacco Day Conference In June, as part of the activities of the Coalition for Smoking Prevention and with the assistance of MK Osher Shkalim , a conference and a day of discussions were held in the committees of the Knesset of Israel to mark the special day for smoking prevention. At the conference, Dana Frost presented the marketing manipulations of the tobacco and nicotine industry.

The Israeli Society of Nursing Oncology

Another conference held in June was the annual conference of the Association for the Advancement of Oncological Nursing at the Exhibition Gardens in Tel Aviv. This year too, excellence awards were presented at the conference on behalf of the Israel Cancer Association. The awards were presented this year by Moshe Bar Haim , ICA CEO, to two oncology nurses:

A service development award was presented to Ms. Svetlana Nemtsov from the Rambam Medical Center.

An award for the development of research in oncological nursing was presented to Mr. Gleb Sakharov from Schneider Pediatric Hospital, Rabin Medical Campus.

As in every year, an ICA booth was set up at the conference, which earned the interest of participants who wanted to get updated on ICA's outreach materials on a variety of topics. Since its establishment, the ICA has served as a welcoming home for nurses in the field of oncology in holding nursing meetings, training sessions, seminars and workshops, interest groups, funding nursing positions and projects, awarding scholarships for research in nursing oncology, travel to training courses and conferences abroad, and more.
