“Minimally invasive rehabilitation with ceramic restorations – how far can we go?”

Restoring deficient teeth at the smile zone has always been a challenging task due to the need to combine structural strength of the restored tooth and esthetic integration with the adjacent dentition. This challenge is even ‎ more prominent when an esthetic enhancement is required. Several techniques and materials have been developed in the last decade enabling better control of these demanding treatments. Planning the end result before starting the actual treatment has been revolutionarily improved through digital concepts. New ceramic materials like zirconia and lithium disilicate enable superior strength when bonded properly to the tooth structure and at the same time provide natural esthetics. Optical enhancement for the dentist through magnifying loops and microscopes in a complete isolated field facilitate the

meticulous intra-oral operative procedures to a precision level that was not known before.

These technologies enable the treating team to achieve excellent results in terms of tissue integration with healthy response of the surrounding tissues, structural durability of the tooth- restoration complex and pleasing esthetic results. This presentation will detail the implementation of different minimally invasive concepts and technologies through a variety of clinical cases. Backed by current scientific knowledge the indications, limitations and advantages will be analyzed. The audience will gain an understanding of the current minimally invasive concepts, techniques and parameters in use today for achieving optimal state- of-the-art restorative treatment results at the smile zone.
