Forging Ahead Through Adversity: Promoting Internationalization at Tel-Hai Despite the War

academic activity continues to play a key role and strategic planning for the near future is well underway. Dedicated efforts to maintain the col lege’s global spirit, and to preserve its international capabilities, during the war and beyond, have led to numerous initia tives that have resulted in fruitful collab orations. With a view to our upcoming transition from regional college to full fledged university, our international ca pacity-building continues to serve as a critical component. Below are some of our international activities since the out break of the war. Visit of Yale University Mission A remarkable example of collaboration between Tel-Hai and a renowned inter national partner is Yale University’s aca demic mission to Israel. A distinguished delegation of 25 Yale faculty members

arrived in March 2024 for a five-day vis it to Israel, motivated by their desire to closely observe and learn from their Is raeli academic counterparts and initiate meaningful research connections. This visit was especially significant, amid the considerable challenges to Israelis in ac ademic forums around the world. The meeting with the academic leadership of Tel-Hai College, including its President, Prof. Eliezer Shalev, M.D., Vice President for Research and Development, Prof. Snait Tamir, and its three deans, Profs. Dorit Alt, Meirav Hen, and Dani Kotlar - impressed upon the visitors the unique setting and research venues that the col lege offers. As a follow-up to this success ful encounter, Tel-Hai’s Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Meirav Hen, recently reciprocated with her own visit to Yale, which hopefully will contrib ute to the establishment of academic connections between the two institutions.
