Tel-Hai Magazine 2023-2024

Dear Friends and Partners,

As we look back on the past year, we find ourselves facing unprecedented challenges in the shadow of the war. Our resilience has been tested, but our spirit remains unbroken. Despite the hardships, Tel-Hai College has continued to operate, adapting to the new reality with determination and creativity. This was made possible greatly due to the support of our partners, who continue to stand by us through thick and thin, understanding the importance of our mission, working together towards our shared vision of a prosperous Galilee. For this, we cannot thank you enough. Our development has not ceased during the war – new and advanced research facilities have been established at the Hula Lake Research Center, the Kiryat Shmona dormitories have been completed, and the dormitories in Katzrin will be completed shortly. The Reni Belzberg Observatory, perched on the library's rooftop, facing one of the most breathtaking views in the Upper Galilee, has been completed and awaits inauguration. Construction of the Ronald S. Roadburg Building for Computer Science, which will encompass the Helmsley Research and Innovation Wing, has begun. Plans for several more buildings are underway, and we continue to look to the future with optimism and confidence that we shall return to the Galilee and to our campuses. Until then, looking ahead to the new academic year, the war has forced us to reinvent ourselves. With two of our campuses evacuated and over 60% of our students, faculty, and staff dispersed across the country, we have embraced remote learning as our primary mode of education. We have managed to maintain some physical presence at our Katzrin campus and at host campuses throughout the country. We have arranged alternative learning sites for our displaced students and faculty, allowing in-person gatherings to complement the remote learning. We are committed to maintaining the high quality of our education, while ensuring the safety and convenience of our student community. Throughout this challenging past year, our students have been a constant source of inspiration. We are immensely proud of their resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to their studies and communities. Over 1,000 of our students have served in the reserves, showcasing their dedication to our country. Many others have initiated and led activities for evacuees from both the south and north, becoming active community leaders wherever they found themselves. We are determined to provide comprehensive support for all our students. We have developed unique solutions for those serving in the reserves or other security forces and for their partners. This includes academic support, flexible learning arrangements, financial assistance, and emotional support. Staff members have volunteered to be personal contacts for students serving in the reserves, ensuring they receive all the help they need. As we prepare for the upcoming year, we remain committed to our role in
