APPENDIX: A SURVEY OF THE PAST DECADE

Evaluating the Experience of Participation in the Training Programs

We asked the survey respondents to evaluate whether they are currently applying the knowledge or skills they acquired during the training programs. The great majority (91.2%) answered affirmatively. Those who answered negatively were asked to explain why they are not using the acquired knowledge. The explanations were varied and included cases in which the participants stopped working in the fields relevant to the training programs they had attended; the knowledge shared at the training sessions did not provide anything new or was not practical enough to be applied; the new materials were forgotten, as a long time had passed since their training program and till today. Those who answered affirmatively were asked to relate to a series of statements that describe different aspects of the experience of participating in the training programs. They were asked to evaluate to which extent each statement is applicable to them, on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 = Not at all…. 5 = To a great extent). Chart 1 presents the items and the distribution of the answers for each. In general,, the experience of participating in the training programs is apparently a positive one.
