HARUV CHILDREN’S CAMPUS

THE HARUV CHILDREN'S CAMPUS

2020 opened with the annual seminar on campus, this year discussing the 30 year mark of mandatory reporting. As the coronavirus pandemic broke out in Israel and the world, campus activity was limited due to the inability to hold its regular activities online. A number of visits and seminars were held.

The campus clinic operation expanded significantly this year.

Haruv Children’s Clinic 2020 was a significant year for Haruv multi-disciplinary children’s clinic. It was established to care for maltreated children and their families, to create a multi-disciplinary model for work with children, to create sub-specialties in the various clinic fields, and to disseminate accumulated knowledge. Clinic staff currently includes a psychiatrist, neurologist, occupational therapists and speech therapists. In addition to evaluation and treatment, emphasis was placed on collaborative work and the need for multi-disciplinary observation of children and intervention processes, in order to improve intervention and achieve significant results. The clinic staff made every effort to maintain therapeutic continuity and provide services to children and their families, despite coronavirus restrictions. Important notes for 2020: • The number of references from campus organizations increased significantly as compared to previous years. • The clinic provided direct individual care as well as group therapy and consultations for approximately 100 children. • Practical training expanded to include speech therapy students, as well as occupational therapy students. • Students who did their practical training in the clinic, participated in an annual workshop with students of social work and special education. They became familiar with their collogues’ work and presented their own professional view and work with maltreated children. • Clinic staff was involved in lectures and various “Haruv on the Air” programs, and shared knowledge accumulated by the clinic with other professionals. In addition, they created and operated two unique programs, one designed specifically for speech therapists and the second for healthcare professionals.
