Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor's Greeting to the 2026 Bank Leumi Tel Aviv-Yafo Marathon Runners

Dear runners and supporters,

Over the past two years, we have learned from personal experience about war and courage, survival and perseverance, uncertainty and resolve. Much like running a marathon, life in our country demands exceptional endurance, physical strength, steady breath, and a relentless drive. As the Book of Ecclesiastes (Qoheleth) reminds us, “The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong.” The Tel Aviv Marathon sponsored by Bank Leumi returns to the streets of our city, bringing with it energy, vitality, and momentum. We are committed to its continuation, in both peaceful and challenging times, as a powerful expression of our collective resilience. It is a celebration of unity and determination, and a testament to the vital role sport can play in growth, balance, and healing. This year’s event will welcome 45,000 runners from Israel and more than 30 countries, bringing together professional and amateur athletes of all ages. Among them are those carrying visible and invisible injuries, those running in memory of loved ones, and those pursuing long held dreams. Together, they form one community united in celebrating human spirit, strength of will, and a shared love of sport. I wish success to all runners, across every distance and level of challenge. I extend my deepest respect to participants from the reserve forces, to wounded service members, and to the families of those who have fallen and paid the highest price.
