For example, in November 2022, Knesset member Maoz addressed the Minister of Education, Yifat Shasha Biton, at the assembly and said: “Madam Minister of Education, how would you like me to call you - Madam Minister or Mr. Minister? Has anyone asked parents if they agree that different and strange genders will hassle their children?” Undoubtedly, such statements permeate the public discourse, promote hatred, and exclude community members. Moreover, this behavior inevitably encourages and leads to expressions of verbal and physical violence and various manifestations of discrimination in the public sphere. 1. The Trans Community Sphere “I was walking with another trans friend on the street, we were talking among ourselves, and suddenly someone spoke to us mockingly, saying, boys are not girls! You should not go into women’s restrooms! All we were doing was walking along, minding our own business. LGBTQ-phobia events in the past year provoked the entire LGBTQ community, particularly the trans community. We will demonstrate in this chapter that those on the trans spectrum suffer maltreatment more than cisgenders. This severe vulnerability is reflected in the overall mistreatment of the community, mainly in the healthcare system, schools, and public transportation.
