Ica Education Center: Advanced Training and Courses for Professionals

The objective is to bolster confidence and ability amongst care providers to help patients and their partners in the area of sexual health, provide relevant theoretic knowledge about sexuality and cancer, and familiarize them with information sources and resources they can refer patients to if they wish to receive help. The Israel Cancer Association’s education and training center for medical and psycho-oncology teams is under the professional guidance of MSW Orit Spira , ICA’s Director of Rehabilitation and Support Dept. Limor Shraga , ICA’s Rehabilitation and Support Dept. and ‘Reach to Recovery’® Coordinator, offers administrative guidance. Courses The ICA recognized by the Ministry of Education for continuing education remuneration. The professional courses are funded by the ICA, and are a vital part of the ICA’s activity in training professionals in the unique field of treating cancer patients and their families. This training is oncology-dedicated, and is not offered as part of an academic track. • A training was held in late November for the multi disciplinary staff of physicians, nurses, social workers, and psychologists of the new oncology rehabilitation dept. opening at Lowenstein Hospital. • This year, a course recognized as continuing education remuneration was held for social workers and psychologists treating oncology patients, and emotional therapists from the national healthcare services.
