Sunsmart® Campaign in Kindergartens The ICA continues to raise awareness each year of the importance of 'Sunsmart'® behavior from kindergarten age, distributing complimentary 'Sunsmart'® kits to kindergartens (ages 5 and up) with coloring books, 'Sunsmart'® stickers, posters and a certificate of participation for the school. As summer began, over 5,300 kits were distributed to kindergartens across the country by special delivery. The kits were produced especially by the ICA solely thanks to public contributions. This year, kit distribution was held in collaboration with local authorities and regional councils, who received the kits and distributed them to the kindergartens.

To encourage early detection of skin cancer among young adults, the ICA released a video featuring Alma Gideoni , who shared how she discovered she had melanoma and emphasized the importance of paying attention to changes in the skin and insisting on investigating anything unusual. יש להקפיד על שתיית מים מרובה במשך כל שעות היום, בעיקר כאשר שוהים מחוץ לבית, כדי להחזיר לגוף נוזלים שהוא מאבד בעת הזעה.

מומלץ להשתמש בתכשירים מסנני קרינה SPF 30 רחבי טווח בעלי מקדם הגנה של ומעלה המיועדים לתינוקות ולילדים. הגנה זו אינה מושלמת, ויש להיעזר גם באמצעי ההגנה האחרים. השתמשו בתכשיר הגנה בכל יציאה מהבית. • דקות 30 • מרחו בנדיבות את התכשיר כ לפני היציאה מהבית, כדי שתיווצר שכבה עבה של הגנה. מרחו שוב עם ההגעה לחוף הים או למקום אחר שבו אתם או ילדיכם נחשפים לשמש. אל תשכחו למרוח את התכשיר על הידיים, האוזניים, כפות הרגליים והעורף. • יש לחדש את מריחת התכשיר כל שעתיים. • מרחו שוב לאחר שהייה במים או הזעה.

האמצעי החשוב ביותר בהגנה על העור הוא זמן החשיפה לשמש במהלך היום. השעות שבהן קרינת השמש חזקה ביותר הן בין אחה"צ. 4 בבוקר עד 10 רצוי בשעות אלה לא להיחשף לשמש כלל, וגם בשעות הבטוחות יותר כדאי להתגונן באמצעים אחרים.

אחת הדרכים הטובות לשמור על ילדיכם מפני השמש היא לכסות את גופם ככל הניתן בלבוש (חולצה בעלת שרוולים ומכנסיים), גם במים וגם מחוצה להם. בדים באריגה צפופה מספקים את מרב ההגנה.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Day

Prostate cancer is the most prevalent cancer disease in men in Israel/ According to the Ministry of Health statistics, in 2020, 2,629 men were diagnosed with invasive prostate cancer. This year, prostate cancer was the fifth most prevalent cancer death cause among men, of which 498 Israeli men died. Prostate cancer is most prevalent among men over the age of 50, and in 2019, less than 1% of the cases were diagnosed in men under the age of 50. A tumor in the prostate may remain unchanged for a long period of time. About a third of the men over 50, and most all of the men over 80 have cancerous cells

in their prostate. Prostate cancer usually developed very slowly, therefore, many times, among senior citizens, it does not cause symptoms or require any treatment. However, there are cases where the disease advances rapidly and may spread to other organs in the body (metastases), mostly in the bones, which requires treatment accordingly. These conditions are rarely diagnosed before the age of 50. While about half of older men suffer from urinary disorders, only 1 in 9 older men will develop prostate cancer. However, some symptoms of these two conditions are similar, and therefore it is important to get checked.
