Understanding and Responding to Child Maltreatment for Indian Child Welfare Workers December 2023 Partners: Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes

Aim: ICW workers are the front line workers for abused and neglected children. They not only make determinations on whether maltreatment occurred, but they may also be tasked with determining treatment and support to prevent reoccurrence. Workers who are able to make continuous safety assessments can help prevent maltreatment reoccurrence. Workers will also need to feel comfortable and safe in addressing these issues with individuals. Simulation training helps aid workers to practice these skills in a safe environment before handling these issues independently. Target audience: Tribal child welfare and foster care staff
