LGBTQ Youth at Risk October 2021 - January 2022 Partner: Hebrew University

Objective: LGBTQ youth often experience parental rejection, sometimes even maltreatment, as a result of their coming out. The purpose of this course is to expose students to homeless LGBTQ youth, and introduce multidisciplinary aspects of at-risk LGBTQ youth and the responses available to them.

SINGLE ACADEMIC LECTURES AT VARIOUS UNIVERSITIES AND DEPARTMENTS

YEARLONG

Throughout the academic year guest lectures were given to students of various departments, at various academic institutions country-wide, most by Haruv Institute professionals. Lectures were delivered at David Yellin College, Beit Berl and schools of occupational therapy in Haifa and Jerusalem universities . Many professionals meet at-risk and maltreated children, but do not know how to identify or assist them. Objective: exposure to various fields related to maltreated children, such as criminology, occupational therapy and education, prior to beginning their work as professionals. Another purpose was to develop awareness to the phenomenon and teach basic skills as an introduction to future education and learning.

Budget: 2,500 ILS for the OT department, all others gratis
