"זה לא הבית, אבל פה אני בטוח"

לסיכום העבודה הטיפולית האינטנסיבית שנעשית עם הילדים ועם משפחתם מאפשרת להם להפנים את קיומה של סביבה בטוחה, יציבה ומוגנת, אך זוהי רק תחנה אחת בדרך לתחנות חייהם הבאות. היכולת של ילדים נפגעי אלימות להשתקם במסגרת המקלט נבחנת בטווח הקצר אך גם בטווח הארוך. אחת השאלות המרכזיות המעסיקות את הצוות במקלט ואת החוקרים בתחום זה היא אם הילדים המתמודדים עם קשיים כה רבים יוכלו בבגרותם לפתח מערכות יחסים זוגיות והוריות המבוססות על תחושה של ביטחון וכבוד הדדי.
