Objectives: survey skeletal Class-III anomalies (SkCl3) treatment modalities, increase the awareness of dental clinicians, and identify treatment-specific long-term cooperation options for improved outcomes. Design: Treating SkCl3 is a complex challenge with orthodontist consensus concerning benefits of early treatment of maxillary origin. Both classical and novel orthopedic and functional appliances, facilitate early treatment and offer improved outcomes. Approach: Successful surgery-free treatment of SkCl3 diagnosed children requires three-dimensional correction with careful timing and meticulous compliance. Main modalities for correction of sagittal and vertical discrepancies include: Frankel’s (FR- III) functional appliance, face mask-reverse-pull

headgear, chin cup, and skeletal anchorage. Early use of facemask and rapid maxillary expansion are invaluable in patients with mixed dentition. However, as treatment is often lengthy and the outcome insufficient, fixed bone-anchored traction coupled with easier patient compliance should be considered. Early diagnosis and referral by the general dental practitioner may reduce the need for traumatic orthognathic surgery in many cases. Conclusions: The general dental practitioner as well as orthodontists have important roles in coordinating and leading the treatment-management of SkCl3 patients. Both should engage in monitoring oral health, coordinating treatment protocols, assisting and motivating patient cooperation during and following treatment, and throughout retention
