70 YEARS OF ACTIVITY For Cancer Patients
Israel Cancer Association // Annual Report 2022
Shada Said Abed Alael, 30, breast cancer survivor: “I stand here today full of pride, love and self-esteem, for choosing life, for being able to raise my daughter, for beating cancer. Sometimes life hits you over the head, but you must not lose faith. I kept my faith and chose life, and the desire to give back, support, share and radiate optimism and hope grew in me. I wanted to give back to the community that held and supported me. I want people to understand that cancer patients are not dead-walking people, a cancer patient is not someone disabled or bedridden. I managed to make some people see the flip side of the coin – a strong person with a zest for life who is not ashamed of their disease or appearance, I loved myself just the way I was, my bald head, and accepted any change in my body.
I began my contribution through the Israel Cancer Association by contacting Fatten Ghates , ICA Arab Sector Activity Director, asking to help in any way I could and reach as many people as possible, especially women. Early detection is my savior, and I share my personal story with the emphasis that early detection is what saved me.”
